A concise list of some of the best foods to add to your diet to improve the health and fitness of your brain, enhance your brain functions.

As with many other situations, there are good and bad foods for your brain. If you're trying to improve your brain health and fitness, then you must consider the importance of healthy eating and nutrition on brain functions.

Here's a short list of foods you should incorporate into your diet regularly to improve brain functions, improve brain fitness.

  • Apples
  • Avocados
  • Bananas
  • Beef (lean)
  • Berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries)
  • Broccoli
  • Cantalopes
  • Cherries
  • Dairy Products (low-fat is better)
  • Eggs (enriched eggs are even better)
  • Flaxseed, Flaxseed Oil
  • Fish (especially salmon, tuna, mackerel, herring)
  • Grapefruits
  • Grapes
  • Legumes
  • Nuts (walnuts, macadamia, pecans, almonds, and Brazil nuts)
  • Olives (and Olive Oil)
  • Oranges
  • Peppers (red and yellow especially)
  • Pork (lean)
  • Poultry (chicken and turkey -- skinless)
  • Spinach
  • Tofu (and other soy products)
  • Tomatoes
  • Water
  • Whole Wheats, Oats, Grains
  • Yams

Final Thoughts
If you can't work all these foods into your diet, consider some natural supplements, especially Flaxseed Oil and Omega-3 Fish Oil. Others that might help include: DMAE, Ginseng, Ginkgo Biloba, and SAMe.

Finally, avoid foods that contain MSG, hydrogenated fats and oils, trans fats, corn syrup, high-fructose sugar (and really all sugar), artificial colors and flavorings, and aspartame.
